Quantum Expert Witness

A Quantum Expert Witness uses their expertise to provide an opinion on the strengths of the evidence relating to a disputed matter.

Lindford Consulting are a firm of expert Quantity Surveyors providing expert advice and opinion on all Quantity Surveying matters and other contract related issues.

Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) defines an expert as:

“A person who has been instructed to give or prepare expert evidence for the purpose of proceedings”.

Appointments as Quantum Experts Witness are personal to each Expert. An appointment is made, by each party, to provide expert opinion on the subject of Quantum. Nevertheless, each expert’s duty is to provide independent and impartial evidence to the tribunal in order to assist the tribunal reach their decision.

Quantum being:

“A required or allowed amount, especially an amount of money legally payable in damages”

Our areas of expertise included, but are not limited to the following:

  • Final Account valuation
  • Variation Account
  • Principles of Measurement
  • Contract valuation rules
  • Damages arising out of contractual default
  • Ascertainment of Loss and Expense

The expert evidence is provided in clear, concise, coherent and proportionate opinion in the form of an expert report. The report and expert will be subject to cross examination if required.

We keep abreast of the current practices, such as methods of measurement and contract valuation rules through day-to-day involvement with live projects. We have a detailed technical understanding and knowledge of current project issues. Continuous professional development is critical to us in maintaining knowledge in our specialist area of expertise.
